TRANSFORMER CABINET
TRANSFOMER CABINETS OR SUBSTATIONS
MEDIUM VOLTAGE
After the soil analysis, you have to find the nearest electric line or transformer cabinet to connect the photovoltaic system . For 5 – 10 MW photovoltaic systems the connection is done through the ENEL local grid in medium voltage 15 – 20 KW :
- Connection to the MV shunt electric line
- Direct connection to the HV / MV ( 132 / 20 KV ) substation in antenna
HIGH VOLTAGE
For photovoltaic systems with more than 10 MW power, the connection is done by TERNA << TSO >>, the italian trasmission grid operator that manages HV ( high voltage 150 – 132 – 64 KW ) and HEV ( extra – high voltage 380 – 230 KW ) electrical grids .
- Direct connection with medium voltage electric line to the HV / MV substation in antenna ( if the are stalls availaible )
- Bulding of a HV / MV substation and maiking a shunt connection to the high voltage electric line in pylon
- Alternatively, building of an overhead power line as far as the HEV / HV substation

LINK AND DETAILS
The transformer cabinet is intended for one or more of the following functions :
- Transformation
- Conversion
- regulation
- Sorting of electric energy
The transformer cabinet is composed of conductors, devices and machines capable of making available the voltage of medium voltage electric lines ( MV ) to the values of low voltage electric lines ( LV )
Instead, the cabinet of energy sorting is used to allow the derivation from one or more lines of energy input to a larger number of lines of energy ouput, without transformation . It is infact an hub of electricity brunch .
In this regard we must make a distinction between public cabinets and those private ( also called user cabinet )
- The public cabinets are owned by the public bodies of electric energy distribution Enel or Terna and they are used to power the low voltage electricity consumption with single – phase voltage 230 V and three – phase voltage 400 Volt
- The user cabinets are owned by the user and they power medium – large sized private systems ( larger than 100 KW of installed power ), supplying electricity in MV ( medium voltage ). The cabin is composed of three compartments : derivation of medium voltage, the electricity supply user can access ; control room of consumptions and the body / user can access there ; only the user can access to the third compartment : there are transformer, medium and low voltage electric panels managed by the user .
